Excellence in hotels and hospitality, since 1958
We own and operate a portfolio of hotels, restaurants and aparthotels across Gibraltar.
The Caleta Hotel (In The Pipeline)

From one hotel to a group.
Since 1958, the Bassadone and Callaghan family have built G&JB Hotels into one of Gibraltar's most recognised hospitality names, from the landmark Caleta Hotel to a growing partnership with IHG, and now InterContinental Gibraltar.

With deep operational experience, trusted partnerships and a commitment to quality, the group creates places that welcome guests, support local tourism and shape the future of the destinations it serves.
ROOTED IN FAMILY
Family is the foundation of everything we do. What began with one hotel has grown into a legacy shaped by shared values, trusted relationships, and a genuine commitment to Gibraltar's future.
BUILDING ON A LEGACY
A track record built on quality, at every stage. Investors and partners work with G&JB for the same reason our guests do: a name proven, and trusted, since 1958.
QUALITY, AT EVERY TOUCHPOINT
We start by understanding what matters most to the people we serve. Every detail is shaped around that, quality that's experienced, not just claimed.
Our current portfolio and the developments that will define the next chapter of the group.
Beyond hospitality, the Callaghan family has long invested in what makes Gibraltar work as a destination, helping position it more than just a day trip, and encouraging longer, higher-value stays.
MOBILITY
Through Hertz and Exchange Travel, the Callaghan family helped visitors explore Gibraltar and beyond, with car hire and coach excursions to Ronda, Jerez, Marbella and Tangier. They also managed the Thomas Cook franchise for Gibraltar and Spain, while Brian Callaghan strengthened air links with the UK through Monarch Airlines.
EVENTS LED TOURISM
Beyond hospitality, the family helped establish Gibraltar as a destination, hosting major backgammon events at the Caleta Hotel and founding the Gibraltar Open Chess Festival. Over 20 years, the festival welcomed up to 400 international players annually and became known for its inclusive atmosphere. Brian Callaghan’s contribution to tourism earned him an OBE, alongside recognition as a FIDE Life Member.
HOSPITALITY & CATERING
Since 1958, hospitality has been the family's true foundation, beginning with the Caleta Hotel and growing into a broader portfolio of hotels, restaurants, and aparthotels owned and managed across Gibraltar. That focus continues today, with Holiday Inn Express, Europa Suites, and the upcoming InterContinental Gibraltar carrying the same commitment forward.

Bruno Callaghan became Chairman of G&JB Hotels in 2024, continuing the family stewardship that began with his grandfather’s opening of the Caleta Hotel in 1964. As a Director, he led the delivery of the Holiday Inn Express Gibraltar in 2018 and guided the Caleta redevelopment through the full planning approval process, laying the groundwork for the InterContinental Gibraltar.
Bruno’s principal focus has been the insurance side of the family business, having founded Callaghan Insurance Brokers in 1992. He also served as President of the Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce from approximately 1999 to 2002, during which time he was a prominent voice on Gibraltar’s economic and commercial affairs.
Augustus Callaghan joined as Executive Director in February 2025, representing the fourth generation of family involvement in the business. He graduated from Oxford Brookes University with an Honours degree in Real Estate Management and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). He currently oversees the Group's hotel operations, business expansion, and the delivery of the InterContinental Gibraltar, the Group's flagship hotel and residential development.
Franco Ostuni has been a key figure at G&B Hotels since 1999, bringing more than two decades of experience across hotel operations, catering and hospitality. He joined the Group as General Manager of the Caleta Hotel and was appointed Executive Director of the Group in 2002.
Franco has played a leading role in developing the Group’s hotel, catering and hospitality division, overseeing major operational initiatives and contributing to the Group’s reputation for high-quality hospitality in Gibraltar. He was instrumental in the conceptualisation, development and delivery of Holiday Inn Express Gibraltar, the Group’s first internationally branded hotel and a significant addition to Gibraltar’s hospitality sector.
In addition to his role at G&B Hotels, Franco serves as President of the Gibraltar Hotel Association, representing the interests of Gibraltar’s hotel sector and contributing to the development and promotion of the territory’s hospitality and tourism industry.
As Executive Director, Franco continues to oversee the Group's hotel and hospitality interests, working closely and alongside Augustus Callaghan and the management team to drive operational excellence, identify new opportunities and deliver the Group’s projects in the pipeline.
Darelyn Legaspi joined G&JB Hotels in 2015 as Finance Manager and was appointed Finance Director in 2020. With more than two decades of accounting and treasury experience, specializing in the hospitality and lodging industry, she oversees the Group's financial operations and plays a key role in supporting its strategic growth. Her leadership has helped drive the financial success of the Group's portfolio, from The Caleta Hotel, Holiday Inn Express, Europa Suites to InterContinental Gibraltar.
